Architecture in California

Think you want to be an Architect?

An Architect is a person trained to plan and design beuldings, and oversee thier construction. To practice architecture means to provide services with the design and construction of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings, that have as their principle purpose human occupancy or use. Architect derives from the Latin architectus, which derives from the Greek arkhitekton, meaning chief builder.

An architect's decisions can affect public safety, therefore an archictect must undergo specialized trainging consisting of advanced education and also an internship for practical experience to earn a license to practice architecture. Practical, technical, and academic requirements for becoming an architect vary by jurisdiction.
